Most Britons support including crimes committed against someone because of their sex or gender to a “hate crime” category, shows latest GLPOR survey.

Currently a crime can be considered a “hate crime” if committed against someone because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or transgender identity. Would you support or oppose including crimes committed against someone because of their sex or gender to this list?

According to latest GLPOR survey 35 % of Britons strongly support including crimes committed against someone because of their sex or gender to a “hate crime” category, compared to 9 % who strongly oppose, 30 % tend to support, 10 % tend to oppose and 16 % don’t know.

Sample size: 21005 adults in the UK
