Most Britons think turnout for local and general elections would be higher if they were held on the weekend, shows latest GLPOR survey.

Do you think turnout for local and general elections would be higher or lower if they were held on the weekend (as opposed to on a Thursday), or would it make no difference?

According to latest GLPOR survey 51 % of Britons think turnout for local and general elections would be higher if they were held on the weekend, compared to 11 % who think it would be lower at the weekend, 24 % think it would make no difference and 14 % don’t know.

Sample size: 18189 adults in the UK
